#MeToo movement starting in India || Vivpost

“Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. We were the first government to start “She Box” on social media and women who wrote to us saying they are harassed, we took action immediately,” said Maneka Gandhi and recommended nation to start #MeToo movement to punish the wrongdoers and reveal their real faces in front of the whole world.

The Sexual Harassment electronic Box (She-Box) is an effort by the Indian Government to provide an easy access to every woman to facilitate the registration of complaint related to sexual harassment. Recent allegation by Tanushree Dutta on Nana Patekar is catching everyone’s eye and people is demanding a probe. Although Tanushree got a legal notice by Nana Patekar for defaming him without evidence. Tanushree asked fellow stars to come and support and raise their voice against Sexual Harassment in Bollywood.

A recent allegation was on a former lead writer of AIB, Utsav Chakraborty by Mahima for sending sexually explicit messages. AIB terminated ties with Utsav and deleted videos featuring him. Also, AIB apologises for not taking steps earlier although they know the matter. This movement will help people report harassment.

#MeToo movement spread virally in October 2017 as a hashtag used on social media in an attempt to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace.

Popularized by American Actress Alyssa Milano.
Do you think #MeToo movement will start in India and become successful until people come forward to support and report Harassment?
