DUSU Election: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) Election is one of the major tournament of basic politics in New Delhi Politicians. Synonyms of DUSU were Money, Muscle, Power.

Today on Vivpost I will present you a special report on DUSU Election. In this report, I will present the good side as well as the bad side of DUSU Election.

First of all some information about DUSU Election,  Delhi University contest election for the post of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. Votes were cast by the students of colleges which were affiliated to the University of Delhi. Every College contests its own election also, for their College Student Union. Selected students have the responsibility to solve the problems of students.

DUSU helps students to step into the world of Politics. Many of the previous DUSU Members were currently serving in Central and State Government. Examples- Arun Jaitley and Ajay Maken.

Bright Side

DUSU Elections or College Election helps the student to take responsibility and help students fulfilling their demands.

Working for the student to make College/University a better place.

DUSU helps the student to take part in direct or indirect elections. 

Budding Politicians takes this opportunity for rehearsal or practical exam for MLA/MP/Nagar Nigam Elections. DUSU is an intense and democratic organization, selected by Students itself. Every year there is an intense competition for DUSU posts. Students understand the system and cast their First Votes in University/College Elections. 

Politicians get an exposure to interact with their colleagues and expand their base, which will help them in upcoming high-tier elections.r
It is also helpful for the National Parties as result provide a sitemap of young India, what youngsters want.

Dark Side

DUSU Election is like an ordinary election where Political Parties interfere and it causes the clash between them, Clashes between them is not student level as it is of a high-tier level. Money and Muscle Power still exist in this Election. Candidates with "Backs" ie. Power behind them (Money/Muscle) still dominates this election. 

1. Students were beaten by Opponents.

2. Students vote were purchased via organizing Trips, Movies, Liquor.

3. Castism

4. Local Candidates dominates.

5. Students in PG(Paying Guest) near Colleges were threatened.

6. Fake Voting.  

Still, DUSU Elections give candidates exposure to the real world of politics and they do a lot of hard work in promoting their name and propaganda. They expose and understand how the main system of democracy works.

ABVP eyes Comeback

In the year 2016 ABVP won 4 seats out of 4 but in 2017 it restricted to 2 seats. This year ABVP eyes for the comeback and re-establish itself.

 

Can NSUI repeat its feat?

After grabbing 2 seats in the previous year, NSUI eyes for the whitewash.
