DUSU 2017

The Delhi University Students Union, generally abbreviated as DUSU. 
DUSU is the representative body of students from most Delhi University Colleges.
Each college also has its own Students Union to which elections are held every year.

Polling has started for morning colleges ie. 8 am to 12 pm.Evening colleges timing is 2 pm to 7 pm.
Polling Booths are at their respective colleges and departments.

A party has to win at least 3 seats(out of 4) to consider themselves the winner of the election.

ABVP eyes Fifth Straight Win !!


From 2013, ABVP is winning the election. In 2013, dethroning NSUI, ABVP won  3 out of 4 seats.
In 2014 ABVP clean swept all seats and repeating their performance in 2015 they had done the same.
In 2016 they won 3 out of 4 seats.




NSUI eyes a comeback !!


 After losing its dominance in 2013, the eyes of a comeback in DUSU.
From 1997 to 2007 they rule in a dominant state.


AISA ready for an upset ??


After the Ramjas Violence last year, AISA is rising their stock.
A large group of secret followers/ admirers are present in DU of AISA.
"Students of the university are fed up of the money-muscle-power politics of the ABVP and NSUI."
said by AISA DU Chief Kanwalpreet Kaur. 




Alumnus of DUSU in Indian Politics !!

1. Arun Jaitley




Widely known to be the most intellectual man in the BJP, Arun Jaitley currently serves as the  Minister for Finance in the Lok Sabha Government. He has a degree in Commerce from the Sri Ram College of Commerce. 






2.Vijay Goel

Another alumnus of SRCC, Vijay Goel currently serves as the President of the Delhi state unit of the BJP. Vijay Goel was DUSU President in the year 1977-78, again on an ABVP ticket.

3.Vijay Jolly 

Vijay Jolly did his Bachelors in Commerce from SRCC followed by M.Com from the University of Delhi. Jolly was elected as the DUSU President for the year 1980-81 as a member of ABVP. 

4. Ajay Maken


Ajay Maken is currently the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress. 





5. Alka Lamba


Alka Lamba did her B.Sc from Dyal Singh College, the University of Delhi followed by M.Sc and M.Ed from St. Stephen’s College. Alka contested for the DUSU President’s post in 1995 on NSUI’s ticket and won by huge margins. Taking her political career to new heights, Alka has announced the All India Girls Convenor, NSUI in 1996 and she became the all India NSUI President in 1997.
