Eastern Peripheral Expressway Review - Vivpost

Hello readers, welcome to the Vivpost, today I will review the pathways or famously called Expressway recently inaugurated by our Prime Minister N. Modi on 27th May.

The expressway has 406 structures of which 4 are major bridges, 46 minor bridges, 3 flyovers, 7 interchanges, 221 underpasses and 8 roads over bridges.

Features Proposed:-

1) The 135-km Expressway has a closed tolling system in which toll will be collected only on the distance traveled and not on the entire length.
 2) Provision for electronic collection of toll to ensure disruption-free movement of traffic.
3) Weigh-in-motion sensors on all entry points which ensure that over-loaded vehicles are not allowed to enter the Expressway.
4) Provision for parking of overloaded trucks where they can unload some of the goods to satisfy the weight criteria and then drive to the Expressway.
5) Cameras have been put up every two kilometers. Over-speeding vehicles will be issued the challan at the toll plaza and the challan amount would be added to the total toll amount.
6) Facility for rainwater collection at every 500 meters has been made.
7) 2.5 lakh trees have been planted along the highway along which will be watered through drip irrigation system
8) A cycle track of 2.5 meters has been developed on both sides of the expressway
9) Solar panels have been installed at various locations which will provide power to illuminate the expressway.

Reviews:-

As we reviewed the quality of highway, ease of communicating and safety during Journey we found some points:-

 Favorable:

1) Less traffic on Delhi-NCR route.
2) A less time-consuming journey for travelers.
3) Reduced almost 50% of pollution, vehicles that are not bound to New Delhi will be redirected.
4) Promotes Green Environment, using Renewable sources of energy to generate electricity.

Faults:

1) We accessed total 90 Km of this route, Ghaziabad to Palwal, in which we found that there are no lights after 6-7 KM ahead where we started our journey.
2) Very less traffic on that route, dangerous during the night especially when there is no electricity present.
3) No display boards to tackle emergency, No notice boards for Important phone numbers in route.
4) No toilets in route, earlier said there will be toilets at every 2 Km.
5) Structures which is left to be constructed, their materials lying on the ground without and security.
6) Electric Poles yet to be installed, maximum poles are yet to connect to LED lights.
7) Most important, No police PCR was seen patrolling during the night.

There are lots of work yet to be completed, Traffic yet to come and Lighting should be completed immediately.
